Closed for renovation since 2021, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom’s Olympic South has reopened as a modern, multifunctional facility. Originally constructed in the 1970s, with various updates and additions over the years, the building now features fully renovated interior spaces across three stories, selected exterior upgrades, a new prominent entryway, and a standalone elevator to enhance accessibility. The revitalized space includes classrooms, offices, study and rehearsal areas, an art gallery, the Early Childhood Education program’s lab school, and the Central Washington University (CWU) extension site.

Ethos Civil provided civil engineering design, permitting, and construction administration support. Site improvements include replacement of stormwater piping and catchment structures, the addition of area drains and catch basins for stormwater collection, upgraded sewer lines, a new 1,500-gallon holding tank, contaminated soil remediation, parking lot and paving improvements, irrigation system, and the installation of ADA-compliant sidewalks, ramps and other pedestrian access features.

McGranahan Architects served as the project architect, Brienen Structural Engineers, PS (BSE), provided structural engineering, and FORMA served as the general contractor.
