Henry Road

The Henry Road Plat project involves a proposed nine-lot residential subdivision located in Tacoma, WA.  The site consists of roughly 4.1 acres at the end of Henry Road with spectacular views over Commencement Bay and the Puget Sound.  The site has remained undeveloped for decades due to the sensitive environmental  conditions surrounding the property and the complexities of utility service.

Ethos Civil accepted the challenge to design the plat, and work with the environmental constraints, turning them into amenities for the future residents.  The eastern portion of the site contains wetlands and wetland buffers, a biodiversity habitat corridor, and very steep slopes.  The site also contains a large number of big leaf maple trees. 

The project design weaves together a design that meets all the city requirements for access and utilities, while also preserving the natural habitat to the maximum extent possible.  The interface between homes and natural environment will become a selling point for this neighborhood.  Ethos designed a soft surface walking trail to serve as the boundary between the developed and natural environments.

Ethos Civil coordinated all consultants, including Surveyor, Arborist, Wetland Biologist, and Geotechnical Engineer.  The project is currently in permitting and is expected to be approved for construction in 2027.
